End of year Meme

Pinched from arabwel

What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?

Went to a work Christmas party, went to Nyons, went to the Natural History Museum, saw the Lord Mayor's parade, went outside dressed up in full on medieval gear.

Went to a funeral. The other things were considerably more fun.

Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I honestly can't remember if I made any last year. Probably didn't keep them if I did. Actually...I think there was one about going back to Prague. Which I completely failed to do. I've got a couple lined up for this year though *fingers crossed*

Did anyone close to you give birth?

A few people from work did, but no one I'm actually close to.

Did anyone close to you die?

My grandmother :(

Which countries did you visit?

Switzerland...I think while there we nipped across the border to France for a market thing, and we definitely drove through France on the way to Switzerland, but I'm not entirely sure that counts.

What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?

Some sense of where I'd like my life to go and where I'd ultimately like to end up.

What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

None really.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Er...I completed Nano. I've stuck with dancing for an entire year.

What was your biggest failure?

Failing to do anything remotely interesting or spontaneous. Note to self, add one of these to the list of resolutions.

Did you suffer illness or injury?

A diagnosis rather than any new illness, and I seem to have buggered my knee in the last month or so. But the doctor says that will sufficient rest whatever I've done to that should clear up just fine.

What was the best thing you bought?

Moisturiser. It's amazing stuff. Or my netbook, but since that was partly a birthday present I didn't pay for all of it.

Whose behaviour merited celebration?

My circle of friends. Because their behaviour generally involves being friends with me, which I feel is cause for celebration.

Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

Those same people in very specific conversations. Mostly because the majority of my circle of friends consists of straight, white, mostly able bodied males who I know I'm not coherent enough to explain the concept of privilege to in a way they'd understand. It makes some conversations with them incredibly irritating.

Where did most of your money go?

Rent, travel, and food for the most part.

What were you really, really, really excited about?

Don't think I ended up particularly excited about anything. It was kind of a boring year in that regard.

What song will always remind you of 2010?

None.

Compared to this time last year, are you:

a) Happier or sadder? About the same I think. Which isn't bad because I'm generally a pretty happy person.

b) Bigger or smaller? Unfortunately I think I'm probably a bit bigger. Doing something about that is another of the resolutions.

c) Richer or poorer? Richer I think. Rent is cheaper and I spent the entire year saving wages.

What do you wish you'd done more of?

Writing.

What do you wish you'd done less of?

Stressing over the future.

How did you spend Christmas?

At home, with my family.

What was your favourite month of 2010?

Er...not sure. It was all about the same.

What was your favourite TV programme?

Doctor Who. Or Merlin Don't judge me

How did you see in the New Year?

At parents house, with boyfriend, having just been pipped at the post in Trivial Pursuit.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Don't think so. I don't think I actually hate anyone.

What was the best book you read?

Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie. The trilogy that takes place before this particular book was also amazing, but I liked the way this standalone ended far more.

What was your greatest musical discovery?

I discovered I liked Sabaton way more than I thought I did. Was Josh Groban this year? Or was he last year...If this year then him too.

What did you want and get?

A fair few of my Christmas presents. To be allowed to tag along with Sophie when she went back to Switzerland over the summer.

What did you want and not get?

To be allowed to do the BMS conversion thing with the hospital.

What was your favourite film of this year?

Oh god...what films have I watched this year? Is it just ones new at the cinema or can they just be new to me? Probably Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time if the former, and Dorian Gray for the latter.

What did you do on your birthday?

Uh...I think we did RP while dressed up and then played giant Jenga. I really can't remember.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

That whole sense of where I went to end up and how to go about it that I mentioned earlier.

What kept you sane?

I'm thankfully a fairly sane person anyway.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Ben Barnes.

What political issue stirred you the most?

The Government going back on pretty much everything they promised in their election campaign. I know it's par for the course with politicians, but fuck them anyway.

Who did you miss?

My Nana

Who was the best new person you met?

I don't think I met anyone knew that would count as a best person.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.

Don't have one. 2010 wasn't a particularly educating year for me.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

"I was working in the lab late one night..."

Yeah...didn't really do anything significant to require an actual meaningful lyric.
